A bit about the author

Here is a little bit of information about Cassandra Clare from her form her blog

Cassandra Clare was born to American parents in Teheran, Iran and spent much of her childhood traveling the world with her family…. She lived in France, England and Switzerland before she was ten years old. Since her family moved around so much she found familiarity in books … She spent her high school years in Los Angeles and After college, she worked at various entertainment magazines and even some rather suspect tabloids where she reported on Brad and Angelina’s world travels and Britney Spears’ wardrobe (2010, http://www.cassandraclare.com/cms/bio)”

“She started working on her YA novel, City of Bones, in 2004, inspired by the urban landscape of Manhattan, her favourite city. She turned to writing fantasy fiction full time in 2006….(2010, http://www.cassandraclare.com/cms/bio)”

What mercandice is coming out in

Until recent years it was unusual to see anyone wear an item of clothing that had a slogan or some sort of relevance to a “main stream” book. The sudden “trend” became world known in 2008/9 when the first Twilight movie was made, female fans wore T-shirts with there proffered male lead character, with the slogans “Team Edward or Team Jacob”.

Since then fans have printed and sold clothing with book references from serious to making a pun at a character. Mortal Instruments is no exception.

Cassandra Clare has announced on her official website that a graphic novel depiction of the first book in the Immortal Interments published by Th3rt World Publishing. And only recently while I have been writing this blog, it has been announced that the City of Bones is in the process of being written into a movie script.

Here are some pictures from the Internet that show the extent of what the franchise has become since the first book in 2007. The website Zazzle.co.uk had some really good example of shirt designs that people could buy, and jewelry by designer Viviane Hebel has some beautiful jewelry work that was inspired by The Mortal Insterment series; but both sites prohibited coping the display pictures
